Food, music and dance downtown today

The Hispanic Cultural Resource Foundation is hosting its Taste of Latino Festival today at Francis Field, 25 West Castillo Drive, running from noon to 6 p.m. General admission is free, and attendees can buy tastings at individual booths while voting in a popular-vote contest.

The event centers on an Empanada and Cuban Sandwich Smackdown, with contest entries also including tacos and paella. Live music comes from Vaya DJ and Sons, alongside Zumba classes and dance performances throughout the afternoon.

Those wanting a covered seat can purchase a VIP package, priced at $89.94 for teens and adults or $38.09 for children five to 14, which includes seating from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and complimentary samples of the contest entries.

The festival is organized by the Hispanic Cultural Resource Foundation, a Brooksville-based nonprofit focused on serving the Hispanic/Latino American community.
