More than 100 local acts will play 17 St. Augustine venues this September as the Sing Out Loud Festival marks its 10th anniversary with a full slate of free Local Artist Showcases — meaning residents can spend three straight weekends catching hometown talent, at no cost, without leaving the city.
Organizers announced the lineup Friday. The showcases, presented by PNC Bank, run over three weekends — Sept. 4–6, Sept. 11–13 and Sept. 18–20 — and stretch across genres from indie rock and jazz to bluegrass and country, according to local news reports and the festival's own schedule.
The through-line for the milestone year is Northeast Florida's own music scene. A programming coordinator for the festival said the showcases reflect what Sing Out Loud has been about since the start — celebrating the artists, venues and music community that make the region distinctive — and that this year offers more chances than ever to discover local music around town.
Where to catch the free shows
The showcases spread the music across neighborhood bars, breweries, cafés and cultural spaces rather than one central stage. Participating venues include:
- Colonial Oak Music Park
- Dog Rose Brewing
- Prohibition Kitchen
- Sarbez
- Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center
- The Waterworks
- Bin 39 Wine Bar
- Boat Drinks
- Casa de Vino 57
- Hornski's Brewing Co.
- Ink & Barley
- Jimmy Hula's
- Ragga Surf Café
- Shanghai Nobby's
- Spinster Abbott's
- St. Augustine Elks Lodge
- Tonevendor Records
With shows scattered across the city, the format is built for walking, hopping between spots and stumbling onto an act you've never heard of.
The rest of festival week
The showcases are the anchor, but the closing stretch of September fills out with several more events:
| Event | When & where |
|---|---|
| Music Business Panel (free, RSVP required) | Wed., Sept. 23 — Spinster Abbott's |
| Sip Out Loud (ticketed) | Thu., Sept. 24 — Bin 39 |
| St. Augustine Songwriters Festival (free) | Sept. 24–27 — multiple venues |
| St. Augustine Record Fair (free) | Sun., Sept. 27 — St. Augustine Amphitheatre |
The Record Fair, presented by ToneVendor Records, closes out the month at the Amphitheatre, and the RSVP-only business panel gives working and aspiring musicians a chance to talk shop.
A decade of a signature local event
Sing Out Loud is produced by SJC Cultural Events Inc., the nonprofit that operates the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and puts on the Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series. A PNC regional executive said in the announcement that the festival has grown over ten years into a real regional asset — creating opportunities for local artists, drawing visitors and supporting area businesses.
Note: Organizers say more performances and special events for the 10th anniversary will be announced in the coming weeks, so the full weekend-by-weekend lineup is still filling in. Check the official festival schedule before you plan.
